The purpose of Church of Sweden’s Cultural Secretary is to promote a manifold, outspoken cultural life, and maintain a dialogue concerning religion and existential matters in public cultural life. This relies on a good relationship between the church and the cultural society. Thus, the Council cooperates with cultural workers and departments connected with cultural issues in both church and society. This relationship is upheld by annual scholarships to e.g. artists, musicians, writers, actors, theatre societies, dioceses and congregations. The Council’s activities also include seminars and debates at the annual Book Fair in Gothenburg, film seminars, Church of Sweden’s Film Award, public seminars on current topics, a media publication series, research on culture and theology, etc.
